Jim Grady

Table Warfare are unable to recommend James (Jim) Grady of Sinister Jester Studios as a sculptor of miniatures. It's now been a year since we commissioned Jim to do 4x 32mm miniatures and paid up front. After 9 months and being threatened with legal action he seemed to be getting closer to completion, but then went silent again. There has been no response to any chases for almost 2 months. While we can appreciate the quality of his sculpting, there is no way Table Warfare can reccomend that anyone commission Jim to do work for you. Beware!!

-----------------

I have been sculpting since 2007. I currently head Sinister Jester Studios and do freelance sculpting. I always attend the sculptors meeting at GenCon Indy and I organize the Indiana Sculptors Workshop with fellow sculptor Tom Mason. I placed third in the sculpting competition at GenCon 2009.

Experience

About my skill level, I have been sculpting figures since 2007. I have attended the sculpting meeting at GenCon every year since. I have taken paid classes from Bob Ridolfi, Gene Van Horne, Bobby Jackson, Jason Wiebe, Sandra Garrity and Gubser. I took third place in 2009 at GenCon Indy behind Bob Ridolfi and Jason Wiebe, beating out 12 others including a sculpt by Julie Guthrie. I organize the Indiana Sculptors Workshop with Tom Mason of Mercs Miniatures every year, where we discuss techniques, help newcomers and the business in general.

Prices

My rates vary based on complexity of the sculpt, number of pieces in the sculpt and the size. Usually anywhere from $4 a millimeter up to $14 a millimeter.

The difference between $4/mm and $14/mm (USD) would be if there were many parts, or a largish figure like 40mm+. For now let's say for a nice standard 32mm figure I would charge between $100 and $200 (USD) depending on complexity of the figure.

Duration

Table Warfare are unable to recommend James (Jim) Grady of Sinister Jester Studios as a sculptor of miniatures. Although he originally quoted less than 1 months, 4 x 32mm miniatures have taken over 1 year to complete and we have no ETA.
