Matthias Zander
Born and living in Berlin Germany. Got a wife and a 5 year old son. I work as a professional sculptor ( damn that sounds stoopid ^^ ) for about 3 years now, mainly doing commissions for other companies.
Befrore that I worked as a violin and guitar maker, but that didn't leave me enough room for creativity and musicians are quite annoying clients from my experience, so I turned my hobby into a job.
Genre
As for the genre... I personally prefer sci fi. Nevertheless I sculpt fantasy stuff, steampunk or whatever the client wants.
I don't do historical minis as I just don't like them and imo you have to like what you sculpt to make sure it looks good.
As for the scale I like 28/32mm minis but I really love to sculpt 54 mm minis and even bigger stuff. I sculpt quite a lot of busts inbetween too in all kind of scales.
Experience
I worked for many small companies all over the world like: Troll forged minis (USA), Distant Shore Minis (Australia), Harwood Hobbies (Canada),Deltadog Designs (Germany), Jester Miniatures (Germany/Austria), Tabletop Art (Germany).
I have done quite a bunch of Minis for them over the last years, though not everything has been released yet and will be on the market sometime soon. Plus I sometimes work for private clients.
Prices
My prices are about 10 to 15 ?uro per mm, but that varies and is really depending on the concept/artwork and how much detail and complexity
the models shall have.
Duration
As for the duration...complicated. Depends on the mini really. Some are done in a few hours, some bigger or more detailed stuff sometimes take me a few days. I usually work on several minis at once to keep the sculpting mojo flowing. To have them done at a certain date the client is asked to give me a deadline, which I always keep, never been late on anything.
Availability
Generally I am always available, depending on how much I have to sculpt at a certain moment I tell the cliet when I could be done with a sculpt.
